The Evangelical Free Connexion is a news and information service for the global free evangelical and free church family. It is provided by Worldwide Evangelical Seminary (WWES), an international seminary with branches in multiple countries, offering theological education for free church leaders worldwide.
The Connexion exists because the free evangelical movement is global, diverse, and under-connected. Across thirty national federations — from Norway to Nigeria, Finland to the Philippines, Germany to the DR Congo — congregations share a common inheritance: voluntary church membership, the primacy of Scripture, the priority of personal faith, and a conviction that the essentials of the gospel are far more important than the secondary matters that divide denominations. The Connexion gives this scattered family a shared information space.
What we cover
The Connexion covers the global free evangelical church movement — churches and movements that share a common heritage of congregational independence, believers’ church identity, and evangelical faith. This includes the historic international networks of free evangelical churches, their member bodies, and a wide range of independent movements around the world that share the same theological DNA, whether or not they hold formal membership in any international body.
Our reach extends to free evangelical churches and movements regardless of their international affiliation or membership. We cover the whole family.
We cover movement news, church planting, theology and identity features, country and region profiles, and summaries of notable voices from within the tradition. Occasionally, we carry news from WWES itself — clearly labelled.
Our editorial commitments
- Public sources only. All content about organisations, churches, movements, and individuals other than WWES is drawn from publicly available sources. We welcome corrections and enquiries at editor@wwevangelical.ca.
- Paraphrase, not reproduction. We never reproduce articles or substantial text verbatim. We paraphrase, synthesise, and link to the original source. Direct quotations, if used, are brief (fewer than fifteen words) and attributed.
- Factual, irenic, neutral. We report what movements do and say. We do not editorialize on internal disputes, take sides in controversies, or amplify conflict.
- No invented facts. If a detail cannot be confirmed from a public source, it is not published. A shorter, accurate post is better than a padded, uncertain one.
- Equal dignity. We cover small Global South movements with the same seriousness as large Western federations. The African and Asian churches are not a footnote — they are central to why the Connexion exists.
- WWES is the quiet provider. WWES appears in the masthead and in occasional editorial notes, not as the dominant subject of the publication.
