The Council of the Church of the Brethren in the Czech Republic met in Prague in October and agreed to put a proposal to the church's conference to establish a new congregation in the city's Prague 8 district. The proposed congregation, Network Praha, would take effect from 1 January 2028. The council published its commented report on the October meeting on 31 October.
Network Praha currently operates as an independent station within the Church of the Brethren congregation in Prague 4–Jižní Město. It has 37 members, most of them under 30, and works in both Czech and English. Its life is built around small discipleship groups known as triads, and it also runs a student network, internships and involvement in foreign mission. The station is financially self-supporting and supports mission work, other congregations and ministry among the Mongolian community. Its mother congregation's board has backed the move to become a separate church.
The council also noted the creation of a new Ukrainian station, Otcův dům (“Father's House”), at the same Prague 4 congregation, led by Danyl Dobroljubov. In other decisions, it approved visitation reports from the congregations in Havlíčkův Brod and Prostějov and divided the 2027 visitations among its members. It named administrators for two congregations from 1 January 2027: Petr Šimmer for the new Church of the Brethren congregation in Děčín–Pochodeň, and Karel Hůlka, provisionally, for Letovice.
The council also approved a change to the rules governing vicars' training, adding a sixth exercise on “Marriage and family” that will include mandatory participation in online Marriage Evenings and one weekend meeting. It reported that a team of historians is in its second year of work on a book marking the denomination's 150th anniversary, in cooperation with a historian in Slovakia. The council is also preparing a conference proposal that would allow formal preparation for congregational elders, and has sent discussion questions on the role to its regional seniorates.
