The Theological Seminary at Ewersbach, the training college of the Bund Freier evangelischer Gemeinden, opens its academic year on Sunday 4 October with a festive service under the motto "Lebe Theologie" — live theology. The service runs from two until four in the afternoon at the Kronberg-Forum in Dietzhölztal, followed by a reception and time to celebrate both the students who are beginning and those who are finishing.

About twenty new students are starting this year. They will be presented and blessed during the service, while the graduates of the two bachelor's programmes — Evangelical Theology, and the track concentrating on youth, congregation, mission or diaconal work — receive their certificates in the same celebration. The festive sermon will be preached by Dr. Evi Rodemann, an internationally known speaker who has taught church development and leadership at Ewersbach since 2024.

The rector of the seminary, Prof. Dr. Andreas Heiser, said the graduating students had reached a first milestone: "They are now qualified to build full-time for the Kingdom of God in congregation and mission." For many of them, he added, the bachelor's degree is a pause on the way to a master's and to pastoral service. He also voiced particular gratitude for the strength of this year's intake. "We are growing as a college, and we are glad to be able to accompany so many different paths of calling," he said.

Ewersbach is the denominational seminary of the German Free Evangelical congregations, and its yearly opening marks the point at which a new cohort enters full-time training for congregational and missionary work in Germany and abroad. Families, friends, home congregations and guests are invited to the service; no registration is needed, and the event is streamed live.
