The Secretary General of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), Rev. Adv. Botrus Mansour, has published a major vision article outlining six biblical principles that should guide the global Church's efforts toward the year 2033. Writing from the WEA General Assembly context in Seoul, Mansour describes the growing movement — now involving more than twenty global networks and ministries — as one of the most encouraging developments in world mission today.
The 2033 milestone marks the approximate 2,000th anniversary of Christ's death, resurrection, the Great Commission, and the birth of the Church. Across continents, churches, mission agencies, evangelistic ministries, and Christian networks are asking how they might use this historic moment to proclaim the gospel with renewed passion. Mansour frames the WEA's participation as part of a broader call to ensure the movement reflects "the fullness of God's heart for His world" rather than mere institutional momentum.
Among the six principles Mansour sets out, he emphasises that 2033 must be seen as a launching point rather than a finishing line — faithful witness continues long after commemorations end. He calls for a truly global movement reflecting the gifts and leadership of believers from every region, noting that much of evangelical Christianity now flourishes in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific. Other principles include a commitment to the "whole gospel for the whole person" — combining evangelism with compassionate service, education, healthcare, and justice — and a vision rooted in the local church as God's primary community for worship, discipleship, and mission. The final principle calls for a spirit of unity across diverse ministries and networks, celebrating each other's callings while seeking greater collaboration.
"It is my prayer that this will be a whole-Church movement, proclaiming the gospel collaboratively in its fullness, to the whole world," Mansour writes, concluding with a vision drawn from Revelation 7:9 — people from every nation, tribe, people, and language worshipping together.
