Four regional gatherings for children and young leaders will take place across the Czech Republic during October, organised by Dorostová unie, the youth union of the Church of the Brethren (Církev bratrská). The Megasharewoody events bring together clubs and groups from two regions at a time and are open to children aged eight to fifteen, along with their counsellors and leaders, junior youth groups, clubs and scout troops — from church backgrounds and from outside the churches alike.

The gatherings run on a two-year cycle, alternating with the nationwide MegaSjezd, which draws the movement together on a larger scale. This year’s regional weekends fall between 16 and 25 October; most run across a full weekend, with one northern Moravian gathering lasting a single night. They are prepared by the movement’s “sharemen” working alongside local leaders, and the programme is built around a single theme: the weekends take their inspiration from a project titled “Hrdina v nás” — “The Hero Within”.

For the Church of the Brethren, which has long invested in work with children and teenagers, the format reflects a wider pattern in Czech free church life: rather than one large annual event, smaller regional gatherings that keep travel distances short and let young people from neighbouring areas build relationships with one another. Registration and further details are available through Dorostová unie’s website.
