Leaders of the World Evangelical Alliance's Mission Commission gathered with missions leaders from around the world, many of them representing WEA regional alliances, at the OMF International headquarters in Singapore on 1–2 October. It was the first in-person meeting of the commission's Global Leadership Council since the WEA General Assembly in Seoul in October 2025. The meeting was hosted by Rev. Dr. Patrick Fung, principal of Singapore Bible College and global ambassador of OMF International.

The council shared regional perspectives, worked through WEA's CALL33 strategy and considered how the Mission Commission can serve, connect and strengthen missions movements in each of their contexts and globally. A key item on the agenda was planning the Mission Commission Global Consultation (GC27), to be held at Rosebank Union Church in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 6–10 September 2027 under the theme “The Local Church in Global Perspective.”

WEA said the theme reflects a conviction that mission today is shaped by the voices, experiences and leadership of the whole body of Christ, from every continent. The aim is for “global nourishing” to accelerate “local flourishing,” with cross-cultural service strongly guided by local believers from within each ministry context. The consultation is intended for church and denominational leaders; mission leaders, practitioners and researchers; and emerging leaders with a heart for God's purposes.

After the council meeting, half of its members took part in COALA 4.0, hosted by the Singapore Centre for Global Missions on 5–7 October. COALA — Christ over Asia, Latin America and Africa — was inspired by discussions at the Mission Commission's 2023 Global Consultation and formed in South Korea that same year, and it gives missions leaders from the Majority World a space to reflect, listen and act. This fourth gathering centred on sustainability, training and South–South collaboration, with the principle that genuine partnership grows from humility and friendship rather than hierarchy or dependency. Dr. Peirong Lin, WEA's chief of staff, welcomed participants, telling them that while it is timely for Majority World leaders to reflect together, “we are all one in Christ,” and expressing the hope that they would shape a framework of “Global Christianity … that reflects the Global Christ.”
