A bomb strike has largely devastated the community house of the Free Evangelical congregation (Freie evangelische Gemeinde) in Kramatorsk, a city in eastern Ukraine near the front line. Allianz-Mission, the German mission agency of the Bund FeG, reported the attack on 19 September, giving thanks that no one was in the building when it was hit.
The congregation had been meeting in a local school for three and a half years, holding two to three services every Sunday, with between 275 and 350 people attending each one. Pastor Yurii of Kramatorsk noted that the school itself had recently been struck. “I thank the Lord that thousands of people have heard the gospel of Jesus Christ” there, he wrote, “and that there are people who have turned to Christ as their Lord.”
The report also describes a drone strike during a prayer time, in which two cars were hit but no one was harmed. Pastor Yurii quoted Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Allianz-Mission said it is again supporting congregations, Christians and others in Ukraine to get through the winter, with FeG Auslandshilfe organising aid deliveries funded by donations.
