On 1 July 2026, Toccoa Falls College in Georgia officially became the University of Toccoa Falls, marking a new chapter in the institution's century-long history of Christ-centred education. The name change comes exactly 50 years after the school transitioned from Toccoa Falls Institute to Toccoa Falls College — a shift that, like today's, was made to better reflect what the institution had grown to become. Current enrollment now approaches 3,600 students.
The transition to university status reflects significant growth in both academic offerings and institutional complexity. The University of Toccoa Falls now encompasses multiple academic schools, including the Fetterman School of Nursing and the Chapman School of Graduate Studies, alongside a broadening range of graduate programmes. President Dr. Bob Myers emphasised that while the name is new, the institution's mission and day-to-day operations remain unchanged. "This new name more accurately reflects who we are today as a growing institution with multiple academic schools," Myers said.
The university's identity remains firmly rooted in its evangelical faith heritage. For more than a century, the institution — affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) — has shaped its culture and community around biblical truth, academic excellence, Christ-centred community, and intentional spiritual formation. As the University of Toccoa Falls enters this new era, its stated commitment is unchanged: developing godly character with intellect, and preparing students to lead and serve in churches, communities, professions, and ministries around the world.
The milestone places Toccoa Falls among a growing number of Christ-centred colleges in the United States that have transitioned to university designation in recent years, reflecting both expanded graduate offerings and the competitive landscape of Christian higher education. For the C&MA, which counts approximately 400,000 adherents in the United States, the development represents a significant institutional strengthening of its educational arm.
