The mission department of the Czech Baptist Union (BJB), working with Turkish congregations, is preparing a new series of week-long interdenominational mission trips to Turkey in autumn 2027 and spring 2028. The trips will focus on ministry among university students and on support for emerging mission stations in the İzmir and Gaziantep regions. Volunteers are now being sought for the teams.
The invitation is published on the portal of the Church of the Brethren (Církev bratrská), one of the Czech Republic's free evangelical churches, and is explicitly marked as interdenominational: the organisers are Baptists, but the teams are open to Christians from other churches. Turkey is a country of some 85 million people where the Protestant community is small, and the programme is framed around friendship and practical service rather than large public campaigns.
Earlier trips combined lectures at Turkish universities, including in Bergama, with sport, leisure activities and Bible discussions, and included practical help such as repairing and painting local schools. The organisers describe their aims as spiritual encouragement for local believers through worship, teaching and prayer; building relationships in parks, cafés and shared activities; and giving team members room to grow in teamwork and cultural understanding. Volunteers are asked to bring a willingness to serve with their gifts and an openness to new friendships.
