The Finnish Free Church's (Suomen Vapaakirkko) annual summer festival drew more than 6,000 visitors to the Teopolis campus in Tampere from 2–7 June 2026, marking the denomination's largest annual gathering. Approximately 200 volunteers served across the week-long event, which blended worship, teaching, children's programming, and intergenerational fellowship. Organisers described the atmosphere as spiritually vibrant, with festival coordinator Jetro Klinga noting that "a positive atmosphere and the presence of the Holy Spirit was evident in everything."
The summer festival — kesäjuhlat — is the premier event in the Finnish Free Church calendar, bringing together congregations from across the country for worship, teaching, and denominational business. This year's gathering carried added resonance as it unfolded at Teopolis, the church's theological seminary and conference centre in Tampere, which is also a partner institution of Worldwide Evangelical Seminary (WWES). The Teopolis campus design allowed attendees to participate from multiple locations across the grounds, with Klinga observing that the environment "came into its own" as visitors moved freely between the main tent, inner courtyard, and outdoor spaces — a layout that suited the festival's intergenerational character.
Volunteer coordinator Henrik Rautalahti, who supervised the roughly 200 volunteers, described his post-event state with three words: emptied, satisfied, and grateful. The festival featured ordination services, missionary commissioning, and the distribution of pastoral mandates across Finland. Organisers procured 1,800 chairs for the main tent — stored in a sea container on site — and received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with one attendee describing the gathering as "positively different" and marked by a palpable sense of prayer. Planning for next year's festival is already underway in consultation with church leadership, with both Klinga and Rautalahti expressing deep satisfaction at having had the opportunity to serve what they called "truly Jesus-festivals."
