The free evangelical movement is one of Christianity's least well-known families — and one of its most interesting. Across more than thirty national federations on every inhabited continent, congregations share a remarkable set of convictions: voluntary church membership, the primacy of Scripture, the priority of personal conversion, congregational self-governance, and a principled charity on secondary doctrines. They plant churches from Finland to the Philippines, from Germany to the DR Congo, from Canada to Colombia. And they largely don't know about one another.
The Evangelical Free Connexion exists to change that.
We are a news and information service for the global free evangelical and free church family, provided by Worldwide Evangelical Seminary (WWES) — a Canadian distance seminary serving church leaders across Africa, Asia, and the wider world. Our purpose is simple: to give this scattered family a shared information space. Movement news, church planting reports, theological features, country profiles, summaries of notable voices — published regularly, for free, for anyone who wants to stay connected to the family's worldwide life.
Who this is for
We are writing for three kinds of reader. The first is the pastor or church leader within an established free evangelical body — in Finland or Germany, Norway or the Philippines — who wants to know what is happening across the wider family. The second is the individual or congregation on the margins of the tradition: drawn to its convictions, uncertain of its shape, looking for orientation. The third is the leader in Africa, Asia, or Latin America whose movement shares this family's DNA — whether or not they know the family's name — and who is discovering that they have long-lost spiritual cousins around the world.

How we work
All content about parties other than WWES is drawn from publicly available sources — official websites, press releases, public statements, published reports. We paraphrase and synthesise; we never reproduce text verbatim. We are factual, irenic, and neutral on internal disputes. We cover small movements in the Global South with the same seriousness as large Western federations.
WWES is the quiet provider. You will see us in the masthead and in occasional editorial notes like this one, but not dominating the front page. Our job is to serve the family — and, in serving it, to be discovered by those who may become students, partners, or collaborators in the work of forming the next generation of free evangelical leaders worldwide.
