An established congregation with underutilised space partners with ethnically distinct fellowships under shared governance, allowing each community to maintain its cultural and linguistic identity while belonging to a unified structure.
The model addresses a providential coincidence — declining attendance in existing church buildings alongside a surge of newcomers facing isolation, language barriers, and housing instability. Drawing on Revelation 7:9 and missiologist Alan Hirsch's view of church assets as Kingdom tools, Lehtonen argues that ethnic fellowships within umbrella churches are not retreats into enclaves but bridges between cultures, generations, and ultimately between heaven and earth.
